1. Faculty, staff, and students may enter the reading room with their campus card. External visitors must present their National or Resident? ID card, work or student ID, or an official letter of introduction to access the reading room.
.The reading room provides open-shelf access to newly printed facsimile editions of ancient books, on-demand access to thread-bound ancient books, and electronic access to publications from the Republic of China era. Consultation services for related literature searches are also available.
.If a digital or facsimile edition of an ancient book is available, the original thread-bound edition will, in principle, not be provided for reading, except under special circumstances.
.Ordinary ancient books can be requested on-site. Materials from the Republic of China period and rare books require advance reservation. Users should complete the corresponding reservation form (“Republic of China Publications Reservation Form” or “Rare Book Reservation Form”) and email it to gujibu@library.ecnu.edu.cn. Please visit the reading room only after receiving an email confirmation.
.Please handle books and reading room equipment with care. Return facsimile editions to their original locations after reading. Thread-bound books must be returned to the storage area on the same day. When reading thread-bound books, do not press your arms, body, or heavy objects on them, and do not use pens with liquid ink for transcription.
.Please store backpacks, handbags, and other personal belongings in the lockers. Food and beverages are not allowed in the reading room. Water bottles may be placed on the long table near the entrance.
.All books in the Ancient Books and Special Collections reading room are for in-room use only and must not be taken out. Photocopying is not allowed for thread-bound books. Photography requires staff approval, and reproduction fees are charged according to the library’s regulations.
.For users traveling from a distance, it is recommended to inquire in advance through email (same as above) or phone (021-54345069) to confirm the availability of the materials.
