The Liwa Scholarly Collection is a distinctive archival repository built upon the rich academic heritage of East China Normal University and its predecessor institutions - the Great China University, Kwang Hua University, and St. John’s University. The collection contains works of influential faculty members, students, and distinguished alumni who have made important contributions to the development of the university since its founding. Faculty members from predecessor institutions included in the collection are those who served for extended periods and achieved significant academic influence. For ECNU itself, the collection highlights early professors ranked at Level III or above at the university’s founding, as well as key scholars from the reform era onward, including the university’s first doctoral supervisors, academicians of the two academies, Changjiang Scholars, Zijiang Scholars, recipients of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, and ECNU Lifetime Professors. The collection is centered primarily on published scholarly works but also includes unpublished materials such as manuscripts, handwritten lecture notes, notebooks, letters, diaries, and photographs.

The items currently on display represent the first batch of the Liwa Scholarly Collection, consisting of 180 scholarly works by 80 notable faculty members, including those from predecessor institutions. Additional materials are actively being collected and curated. We warmly welcome contributions from teachers, students, alumni, and friends from all sectors of society.
