Would you like to access the library’s licensed electronic resources from home or off-campus locations? Currently, the following access methods are available for using library-purchased resources off-campus:

1. WebVPN (No need to install a client; suitable for most databases)
In the Electronic Resources Navigation, click “Help” next to the database to obtain the WebVPN link for access. Please refer to the instructions for details.

2. Shibboleth Access (CARSI, no need to install a client; suitable for selected databases)
  The Library provides all ECNU faculty staff and students with access to certain electronic resources directly from off-campus through CARSI (CERNET Authentication and Resource Sharing Infrastructure) at https://www.carsi.edu.cn. This method, based on Shibboleth authentication, does not require VPN or software installation. Simply log in with your university portal credentials on the designated page to access the resources.

How to Access

1)Access the database login page (You may click the database name above to enter the login page directly)

2)Select “Institutional Login” or “Login via Shibboleth”

3)Choose your federation - “China CERNET Federation”

4)Select your institution - “East China Normal University”; Alternatively, you may skip step 3 and search for your institution by entering “East China Normal University.”

5)Log in using your authentication credentials (student/staff ID and password)

For databases on the EBSCO and ProQuest platforms, clicking the link will redirect you directly to the authentication page. Please enter your authentication credentials to access the resources.

3. VPN Access (Client installation required; applicable to all databases)

By installing the VPN client, your computer’s IP address will be virtually recognized as a campus network IP, allowing you to access the library’s licensed electronic resources remotely. For detailed instructions on VPN installation and usage, please visit: https://docs.ecnu.edu.cn/vpn/
