The East China Normal University (ECNU) Intellectual Property Information Service Center was established on January 10, 2022. It is an institutional entity set up by ECNU to provide intellectual property (IP) information services and talent cultivation. The Center is affiliated with the ECNU Library. Based on the Ministry of Education Science and Technology Novelty Search Station (L19) and supported by ECNU’s overall intellectual property development framework, the Center works collaboratively with units such as the Office of Science and Technology and the Law School, etc., to provide IP information services.

The Center is committed to delivering full-chain intellectual property information services covering IP creation, utilization, protection, and management. It supports ECNU’s innovation-oriented talent cultivation, scientific research, collaborative innovation, disciplinary development, and managerial decision-making, while providing high-quality IP information services for the transfer and commercialization of research outcomes. In addition, the Center emphasizes its social service function, providing intellectual property information services to technology-driven enterprises and contributing to regional economic and industrial development.

Organizational Structure

One Director is appointed, and serves under the ECNU Library Director or the Executive Deputy Director. Two Deputy Directors serve concurrently, one in charge of relevant library affairs, and the other responsible for the ECNU Office of Science and Technology.

The Center currently has 31 service staff members, all holding master’s or doctoral degrees (9 PhDs and 22 master’s degree ). All team members have received professional training in intellectual property information services. Among them, 19 staff members are certified in science and technology novelty search and possess extensive practical experience in this area; one staff member holds a legal professional qualification certificate. The service team has a broad interdisciplinary background, covering chemistry, physics, electronics, computer science, life sciences, environmental science, earth sciences, mathematics, library and information science, and law, among others.

Consultation Experts

The Center has established an Expert Advisory Committee, composed of experts from ECNU’s strong science and engineering disciplines, law, and library and information science. The Committee provides consultation and guidance for the Center’s development and strategic planning.
