To maintain a good reading environment, we encourage users to comply with library regulations and social norms, and prevent uncivil behavior. These regulations are hereby formulated.

1.Entering the library or borrowing materials with another person’s campus card, or lending your own card to others, shall be dealt with in accordance with Article 17 of East China Normal University Library Borrowing Regulations.

2.Taking library materials out of the library without permission or without completing the borrowing procedures will be handled in accordance with Article 18 of East China Normal University Library Borrowing Regulations.

3.Damaging or losing library materials will be handled in accordance with Article 19 of East China Normal University Library Borrowing Regulations.

4.Failing to return borrowed materials on time will be handled in accordance with Article 20 of East China Normal University Library Borrowing Regulations.

5.Improper use of electronic resources will be handled in accordance with Article 6 of the Regulations on the Use of Electronic Resources.

6.Smoking (including e-cigarettes) in the library will be recorded as one violation; a second violation will result in suspension of library access. The reinstatement of access will depend on the violator’s attitude and will be reported to their school or relevant department.

7.Those who damage library facilities or equipment must pay for repair or replacement at a cost. In cases of intentional damage, library access will be suspended for one month, and severe cases will be reported to the violator’s school or relevant department.

8.Those who make loud noises, argue, or disturb others in the library and refuse to comply when warned will have their library access suspended for one week to one month, and serious cases will be reported to the violator’s school or relevant department.

9.Reserving a seat without being present will be recorded as one violation each time. Accumulating two violations will result in suspension of seat reservation privileges for one week; three or more violations will result in suspension for one month.

10.Placing library materials that have not been properly borrowed into lockers will result in permanent loss of locker privileges.

11.Personal belongings left in the library after closing are the responsibility of the user. Items cleared by staff can only be retrieved during designated hours. Such incidents will be recorded as one violation; two or more violations will result in suspension of seat reservation privileges for one week.

12.Users who violate library rules and refuse to comply with the instructions of library or property management staff, thereby disrupting normal library operations, must submit a written self-reflection. Access privileges will be restored only after approval by the library.

13.The East China Normal University Library reserves the right to interpret these regulations.

14.These regulations take effect upon publication, and previous versions are hereby repealed.
