Produced by Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), LandScan is the finest resolution global population distribution data available. The LandScan algorithm uses spatial data and imagery analysis technologies and a multi-variable dasymetric modeling approach to disaggregate census counts within an administrative boundary. The resource provides population data in a raster format. LandScan USA and LandScan HD datasets are produced at a finer resolution than the LandScan Global dataset. Data can be used within the web application (Web App) or downloaded for use in GIS software.
