    The Data and Technology Center is dedicated to building a smart and secure digital service ecosystem, covering system development, resource construction, and cybersecurity. Through collaborations with libraries, archives, and museums (LAMs) both domestically and internationally, the center promotes the application of AI and digital humanities. It leverages big data to drive personalized services and supports teaching and research across the university.


    Main   Responsibilities: 

             

    Management,   Development, and Maintenance of Library Application Systems                

     Conducting research, development,   and operations of the library’s software infrastructure to ensure continuous,   reliable, secure, and intelligent digital services for users;                 

    Maintain the Library Services   Platform (LSP), the OPAC system for public access, and support process   optimization, data cleaning, encoding correction, and interface development;                

    Support and maintenance of various   platforms including the Digital Special Collections Library, library   homepage, course reserves platform, graduation clearance system, WeChat   notifications, and seat reservation system.                

                   

    Procurement   and Maintenance of Library Hardware and Software                


                   

     Purchase and maintenance of hardware   and software that meets the requirements of technological advancement,   stability, and cost-effectiveness;                 

    Primary responsibilities include:   the procurement, maintenance, upgrade, and decommissioning of servers,   storage devices, network equipment, self-service devices, public-use and   staff computers, and various software systems.                

                    

    Computer Room Management                

     Management of the library’s Computer   Room to ensure safety and stability of the information infrastructure;                 

    Primary responsibilities include: inspection   and emergency handling of UPS systems, power distribution, air conditioning,   fire protection, and surveillance systems, along with planning for hardware   upgrades and maintenance;                

    Liaison and coordination with ECNU   IT Services for emergency responses.                

               

    Library Network and Information   Security                

    Standardization of internet services   in the library in accordance with the Cybersecurity Law of the People’s   Republic of China;                 

    Primary responsibilities include:   server vulnerability patching, hardware firewall management, log auditing,   implementation of cybersecurity classification protection, and resolution of   illegal downloads or security incidents according to ECNU’s cybersecurity   response procedures.                

                   

    New Technology Applications and   Literacy Training (including AI, and Digital Humanities, etc.)                

    Providing training on information literacy,   digital humanities literacy, and AI literacy, and recommend new academic   technologies;                 

    Primary responsibilities include: organizing   workshops, bootcamps, and topical WeChat posts to introduce emerging digital   scholarship technologies; Online learning platform development;                

    Provision of access to research data and   high-performance computing tools for user practice.                

                

    Roll-out of Smart Library Construction                

    Implementation of the new service   philosophy of “collections as data,” leveraging big data and AI to improve   personalized services and decision-making support;                 

    Primary responsibilities include: continuously   upgrading automated library systems to integrate print and electronic   resources;                

    Collection data mining at a granular   level to support academic development;                

    Strategic transition of web-based   and manual workflows to AI-based solutions such as intelligent agents and   smart space services.                

                   

    Data Management and Services (including   operational, research, and open data, etc.)                

    Architecture, lifecycle management,   and preservation of  the library’s   operational data, ECNU research data, and locally cached open data to meet   academic needs;                 

    Primary responsibilities include: construction   of a centralized data platform for library operations, asset management, HR,   training, and research;                

    Generation of  customized reports tailored to the needs of   functional departments;                

    Curation of ECNU’s academic   outputs(papers, books, patents, projects) and full texts;                

    Research data systems   development  for ECNU faculty and   students;                

    Curation of international cultural   heritage data; Optimization of  local   data caching and user profiling technologies for personalized service   delivery.                

                    

    Other Tasks Related to Departmental Functions                

                  

    Establishment of extensive   cooperation with domestic and international libraries, archives, and museums   in areas of technology, data, and resources to enhance the library’s   influence;                

    Primary responsibilities: participation   in technical work within the National Normal University Library Alliance and   CALIS;                

    Integration and dissemination of   library operational data to ECNU administrative and functional departments   via automated system interfaces;                

    Active engagement with international   open-source communities such as International Image Interoperability   Framework (IIIF) and Linked Data (LD), and strategic monitoring of global   industry standards and developments from organizations such as International Federation of Library Associations and   Institutions(IFLA), Europeana, and Library of Congress (LOC).
